Capacidades de la Infantería de Marina para la Seguridad y Defensa contra la Minería Ilegal en Colombia: Análisis Estratégico
Abstract
Illegal mining is a crime that is growing in Colombia. The fact that it is not legal has significant impacts on the environment, violence, land ownership and tenure, and the economy of the places where it operates. This problem is found in the jurisdiction of the Marine Corps, however, the component does not have a specialized unit to fight against this crime, which makes operations difficult. Therefore, it is important that it be analyzed with the purpose of formulating recommendations to the high command so that this practice, which is so harmful to the country and the population where illegal mining is practiced, can be reduced, mitigated, or extinguished. Likewise, alliances are necessary with other entities that are committed to ending this activity, such as the Attorney General's Office, UIAF, DIAN, the Attorney General's Office, and internationally with the UNODC and the US government.
