This article presents a bibliographic review on the impact of life aboard warships on the mental health of their crews, applying Goffman's (1961) concept of "Total Institutions." Through a critical analysis of the literature, the effects of isolation, rigid hierarchical structure, and lack of autonomy are examined, along with their relationship to disorders such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Using an exhaustive search of academic databases, the findings are synthesized, highlighting the importance of empathetic leadership and institutional support to mitigate these effects. Based on successful experiences from other navies, strategies are proposed for the Colombian Navy, such as resilience programs, family support, "Just-in-Time" mental health training, and physical exercise.es_ES
